SHA Ethics Exchange: Towards “Respecting Persons” in End of Life Care Online
Learning Objectives for this Session:
- Review the background and rationale of the fundamental principle of “respect for persons” in healthcare ethics.
- Discuss how we might uphold this principle in capacity assessment, and substitute decision-making, in the SHA.
- Case Discussion - How do we optimize the respect granted to patients facing difficult decisions over the final years of life, especially those experiencing cognitive decline?
