Kimberly Willison, Sr Recreation Therapist, Community Older Adult (Saskatoon) will present a session entitled “Do You Practice What You Preach in your Recreation Therapy Service Delivery”?

Session Description: 

• Practicing what you preach as a Recreation Therapy professional is vital for fostering trust and credibility with the clients, residents or participants you work with. When Recreation Therapy practitioners actively engage in recreational activities themselves, they model healthy behaviors and demonstrate the therapeutic value of these practices. This inspires and motivates clients to participate fully and enhances the therapeutic relationship. By living the principles of Recreation Therapy, practitioners create an authentic environment that encourages clients to explore their interests, build skills, and improve their overall well-being. Ultimately, leading by example reinforces the idea that recreation is an essential component of a balanced lifestyle. When is the last time you engaged in self-reflection – thinking about whether you practice what you preach?
