Workshop Overview

This workshop entails FHS Instructor-Candidates to participate, observe, and complete a FHS Fundamentals Workshop and then subsequent instructor education portion with observation of teaching strategies, integration of facilitation techniques, and overview of the Canadian FHS Education Programs.

At the end of the FHS Instructor Workshop participants will be able to:

  • Identify the fundamental key concepts and the literature related to fetal health surveillance in labour for application in practice and while facilitating workshops
  • Understand and integrate various learning modalities utilized in the Fundamentals and Refresher Provider Workshops (in person and virtual)
  • Apply principles of adult learning theory
  • Develop and integrate adult learning principles and strategies to facilitate adult learning
  • Construct facilitation techniques for a variety of learning environments
  • Demonstrate the ability to teach/facilitate a short presentation
  • Discuss strategies for supporting FHS guideline implementation and facilitation of workshops (various logistical issues related to planning and teaching the workshops)
  • Facilitate FHS Provider Workshops across Saskatchewan with registration as a FHS Instructor with Canadian FHS Education Program through UBC CPD.
